The District of Columbia’s Office of the Chief Technology Office (OCTO) is seeking a Cisco ACI Network Specialist to provide subject matter expertise, engineering services, and operational support as part of designing, implementing, migration and daily operational tasks. The ideal candidate will have 16+ years of preparing complex technical documentation and a Cisco Certified Network Professional - Data Center Certification.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related field or relevant experience
- Cisco Certified Network Professional - Data Center Certification
- 16+ years of preparing complex technical documentation
- 16+ years of conveying technical and functional concepts for a specific technical specialty
- 16+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with VXLAN/EVPN
- 7+ years of networking technologies and core Internet protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF, MPLS-VPN, VXLAN/EVPN, DMVPN, vPC)
- 5+ years of hands on experience with Cisco Data Center Nexus 5k,7k,and 9k Switches
- 3+ years of designing and implementing data center fabric solutions using Cisco ACI technology
- 3+ years of expertise in ACI Infrastructure routing, multi-site ACI Data Center and Integration Design based on Cisco best practice methodology
- 3+ years of multi-site ACI platform configurations and integration with firewalls, Int Ser.Provider (ISP) and Bus. to Bus. (B2B) and other WAN components

The ideal candidate will have 16+ years of preparing complex technical documentation and a Cisco Certified Network Professional - Data Center Certification.
The Cisco ACI Network Specialist will be tasked to:
- Provide subject matter expertise, engineering services, and operational support as part of designing, implementing, migration and daily operational tasks
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrate technical knowledge and consultative skills
- Perform tasks with no or minor supervision
- Demonstrate strong expertise in Cisco Data Center, Routing and Switching Technologies
- Demonstrate knowledge in data centers design and implementation based on Cisco Nexus 9K, ACI Leaf & Spine switch fabric
- Showcase knowledge in multi-site ACI Data Center, data center Interconnectivity, Multi-pod and Multi-site design methodology and implementation
- Plan, design and execute Legacy Nexus 9K integration and workload migration to ACI platform
- Show knowledge of ACI IP fabric endpoint classification, categorization, naming and associated policies constructs for various scenarios
- Be knowledgeable about high availability site and multi-site ACI platform configurations and integration with data center firewalls, Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Business-to-Business (B2B) Extranet, Wireless, Provider Edge (MPLS) and Out-of-Band (OOB) data center network segments
- Design, implement APIC, MSO and automating operations and management
- Be knowledgeable about design considerations based on requirements which may include: Tenant constructs; Application Network Profiles; End Point Groups (EPGs); Contracts (Subjects and Filters); Fabric Access Policies
- Implement Rest API, Ansible, Python, Curl and other relevant ACI automation tools
- Be familiar with Solid VMWare Hypervisor and integration of VMware ESXi, ACI and VMM Integration
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco Nexus 9k, 7K, 5K in NX-OS and ACI deployments
- Formulate and define systems scope and objectives based on user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements
- Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of desired results
- Includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirements specifications
- Provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist of most phases of systems analysis, while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment
